History
Founded by Gyōki (668-749), Kūkai later came and prayed for the farmers who were suffering from natural disasters and the spread of sickness. The characters for this temple come from a sacred mountain (ryōzen) in India where Buddha gave sermons on Buddhism. [Provided by Shikoku Japan 88 Route Guide]

Number of routes: 2 routes.
Route 1(1.2 km) The traditional path went through the village of Bando and directly to the gate of Temple #2. This route is only 200 meters longer but far more interesting than taking the main road.
Route 2 (1.0 km) The main road was built after World War II.
