History
In the early 9th century, Kōbō Daishi visited here and while praying for the safety of those on water, carved the main deity. This Jūichimen Kannon Bosatsu statue was called Funadama Kannon (Spririt of the Boat Kannon) and the temple became known as a place to pray for the safety of sailors and fisherman. This section is divided into two parts.
The first part is from #32 to Tanezaki.
Route A is old route (6.0 km). Route B is a new road built about 20 years ago.
The second part is from Tanezaki to #33.
Route A is the ferry route. Route B is via Urado Bridge. Route A is nicer.
