History
This temple was built during the 8th century following the wish of Emperor Shōmu (701-756). When Kōbō Daishi visited, he carved a statue of Jūichimen Kannon and made it the main deity. Due to war in 1585 the temple fell into ruin, but it was restored in 1636. In 1921, due to railway construction, the temple was moved to its present location.
