History

In 586, when Mano Kogorō was travelling by boat from Kyūshū to Ōsaka City, a severe storm came and the sailors prayed to Kannon Bosatsu for protection. It is said that to show his gratitude, he constructed a temple here in one night. The main hall was built in 1305 and is designated as a National Treasure.[Provided by Shikoku Japan 88 Route Guide]
