History

Gyōki founded this temple and carved the 1.46 m statue of Dainichi Nyorai. Around 806, Kōbō Daishi visited, carved a statue of Yakushi Nyorai from a camphor tree using his fingernails, and built the inner sanctuary 200 m away.
