History
It is believed that Kūkai dug the well here in one night with just his staff and the name of this temple comes from this legend. The hut over the well is called hikagiri daishi meaning that if one makes a wish on a specific day then that wish will come true. [Provided by Shikoku Japan 88 Route Guide]
